We did the best we could to prep them for this visit to the Naked City. For our naturist friend, this was something of a pilgrimage, having read so much about the most expansive naturist enclave in the world. On previous journeys, my wife and I have typically stayed in the modest Hotel Eve , tucked away at the edge of the village. I have always thought it to be a bizarre study in humanity. Some online reviews even tell stories of being denied admission at the gate due to the lack of an affiliation with a legitimate naturist organization. We each ventured down to the beach now and again — the familial section of the beach near all the restaurants and shops — noting an occasional couple riding the waves locked in a suspiciously euphoric embrace.
Cap-d'Agde Hotels and Places to Stay
As an Australian, the idea of having to get buck naked in front of a complete stranger is terrifying, but French nudity attitudes are much more relaxed. For many nationalities this concept would raise some questions: How does one not stare? Where do you place your arms and hands? Is there a place for modesty? Is it safe? After WWII, increasing numbers of people started camping on their land, and many enjoyed sunbathing and swimming naked. The family decided to get in on the action and formalised arrangements for these campers. People came from all over Europe and many decided to stay permanently, and soon after a village had been formed. Yet, come sundown it is too cold to eat in the nude, so the whole town gets dressed for dinner. You may be trying to imagine what people do all day in the nude?
It's in my nature
We are two couples camping at Camping Club International de l'Herault in Cap d'Agde in August with our young children and didn't realise it was a nudist area until after we booked thats what you get for last minute booking You appear to have been misled in a number of areas. I live in the nude town, a gated area at least 7km from where you will be. So it will be easy for you to avoid all contact. Thanks for your response and clarification regarding the area. The main reason I was asking about the beach is that the site we are staying at provide a free shuttle boat down the river to the beach. We were in Cap d'Agde last year. The beach is very family oriented lots of kids swimming and playing on the sand and we didn't see any nudists at all, even when we took the bus that went right past the entrance to the nudist section.
Last Updated on January 21, The best time to visit Agde is between the months of May and September, with the peak of the season being July and August. A lot of families visit the resort during the school break in July and August. July and August are also the hottest months usually and also the most expensive for staying at the resort. Between October and April, the resort is almost empty. Early September in Agde is popular with a certain number of people given that the weather still tends to be very good, everything is normally still open up until around the 15th of September and many families have by this time left. Is the resort enclosed is a common question.
